LIFE GOES ON TRUCK POWER BROCHURE

UCLA has one of the most active and innovative Adult Heart Transplant programs in the world. One unique feature is the “Alternate Program” which offers heart transplantation to select patients over the age of 70, as well as younger patients with major medical illnesses. The early clinical outcome in this group of patients is encouraging.

The close collaboration of surgeons and physicians in the Heart Transplant Program and The Ahmanson Cardiomyopathy Center provides a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive treatment strategy for patients with end-stage heart disease. The availability of the latest advances in medical and surgical therapy allows each patient to receive the appropriate care for their particular problem.

Nurses with advanced specialty training in heart failure and transplant management provide individualized and personalized care during outpatient visits and inpatient hospitalizations. They are available on a 24-hour basis to answer questions and give support to both the patient and their family members.
