Pain

Zeltzer, L.K., Bursch, B.,
& Walco, G. (1997). Pain responsiveness and chronic pain: A psychobiological
perspective. Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, 18,
402-412.
This review is the first in
a two-part series on chronic pain in infants, children, and adolescents.
The first part focuses on the developmental psychobiology of chronic pain.
That is, it reviews the neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of pain and the
development of chronic pain. It also discusses theories of central pain
perception and neuropsychological contributors to the development of chronic
pain and pain-related disability.

and pain-associated disability syndrome (PADS). Journal of Developmental
& Behavioral Pediatrics, 19(1), 44-52.
This second article describes
a biopsychosocial approach to the clinical assessment and management of
chronic pain in children and adolescents.
